Open Forum is an Australian E-democracy site.
==History==
The site was launched after a 2007 survey 〔(Comment by Nick Mallory on explodedlibrary.info, November 07, 2007 )〕 suggesting it would be an official government-run service.〔(Comment by Nick Mallory on pigswillfly.com.au, November 7, 2007 )〕 (Correction - Open Forum was always intended as an independent, non-partisan, not-for-profit project. It is an initiative of Global access Partners http://www.globalaccesspartners.org/) It subsequently launched as an online think-tank 〔(Deliberative Democracy in Action, Global Access Partners )〕 (with some support from the Australian Government,〔(openforum.com.au 'About' page )〕 and operated by (Global Access Partners ).〔 It has managed, nonetheless, to attract writing from high-profile public figures, including Federal Parliamentarians such as Tony Abbott 〔(Tony Abbott's blog on openforum.com.au )〕 and Tanya Plibersek.〔(Tanya Plibersek's blog on openforum.com.au )〕
The site was the official public online forum for the Australian 2020 Summit 〔(Australia 2020 Summit page on openforum.com.au )〕 "inviting Australian’s from all walks of life to get involved and post their ideas";〔(Dipping into the Blogpond post referring to openforum.com.au role as discussion forum )〕 although it was not the avenue for official submissions to the Summit.〔(Official Australian Government 2020 Summit submission page )〕
